Ramblings... (1/18/2013)

Manti Te'o
Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o has had quite the week.
Senior Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o has been the center of probably the most bizarre story I've ever heard of.

The story is supposedly that the death of his girlfriend, reported on during the week leading up to Notre Dame's game against Michigan State, ended up be a hoax.

Go ahead and Google Manti Te'o girlfriend. I hope you have nothing to do for the next eight weeks because it will take you that long to read all the stories on this subject.

Frankly, who cares? Does anybody really think this matters when it comes to the guys career? He will play in the NFL and probably be pretty good. Think of guys like Adam "Pacman" Jones, Mike Vick or even Ray Lewis. Those players had worse errors in judgment and all three still play.

In the end, whether Te'o was tricked or playing up a story, the guy will still wear an NFL uniform come September.

Bison Answer Questions... Sort Of
Last night, the Bison men's basketball team crushed Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis by the final score of 78-40. This was a significant win because they did it without the services of junior guard and leading scorer Taylor Braun.

The only problem I have with it is that it came against an extremely weak Jaguar team. IUPUI came into the game 6-14, 1-5 in the Summit League. By the end of the night, they were thoroughly embarrassed as their starters combined to score 11 of the teams 40 points.

Now, if NDSU has the same performance this Saturday at Western Illinois, who is coming off their first league loss, than I'm satisfied. Until then, I'm going to remain skeptical.

NFL Playoffs
At the beginning of the year, my brother and I made predictions on the NFL season. Of the 12 teams that make the playoffs, we each picked seven correctly. Our picks for the Super Bowl were Baltimore and San Francisco. I'm not deviating from the original pick.

I think the 49ers, with Colin Kaepernick, are going to beat up an Atlanta team that has had trouble to run all season long. Meanwhile, I think the Ravens are a team of destiny with Ray Lewis retiring at the end of the season. What better way to send off the future Hall of Famer than with a shot at the title.

Final Note: Tune into 790 AM KFGO tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. to hear me host the "Front Row" show. I have some great guests lined up for this show including Scott Miller to talk Bison basketball and Paul Allen to talk about the NFL playoffs.
